You know what I miss? Bread. That’s right, I said it. I miss having sandwiches for lunch, toast in the morning, and a sweet bread on occasion for dessert. I will admit that is one of the toughest parts about switching to a healthy, gluten-free lifestyle. But, good thing for me (well, for all of us!) I am more of a “conquer my problems” kinda girl. You tell me I can’t find good gluten-free bread, I’ll tell you YES I CAN! And I’ll make it happen! So, that is what I’ve decided to do. I am dedicating these next 2 weeks to experimenting and finding the best gluten-free & wholesome bread recipes possible! Woohoo! I’ve been getting a lot of requests for a good gluten free bread recipe, especially from our Health Warriors over at Zhi3Fusion! So I’m going to make it happen! In the mean time, I thought I’d share some awesome recipes I found from amazing food bloggers who have also gone face-to-face with the bread challenge. Feel free to check them out and play with the recipes. BUT WAIT!!! There are some ground rules here…as some of you have noticed, many times when something is labeled gluten-free, it can be loaded with CRAP (Sugar, refined oils, refined flours, etc). This defeats the ENTIRE purpose of healing the digestive tract! DUH! So…1. No refined sugar- use coconut sugar or xylitol 2. No refined oils- only use coconut oil or raw butter for baking. 3. No refined flours- like white rice flour etc. Stick with the whole grain alternative 4. No pasteurized dairy- only raw and make your eggs organic 5. Of course don’t use anything that isn’t gluten-free 🙂
My partner in crime, Maria Whalen, and I were talking about this the other day. It makes us SO mad when all of these gluten-free products are filled with sugar, GMO foods, or artificial ingredients! Let’s connect the dots people…Sugar causes yeast & candida overgrowth in the intestines. The yeast takes their little claws and pokes holes in the lining of the intestines. This causes all the toxic waste in your gut, that should go into the toilet, to go out into your blood stream and activate your immune system because there are invaders in the body! Do you know what this causes…so called food “intolerance’s & allergies”.
First of all, no one should be eating gluten in my book. Whether you are “allergic” to it or not, these days it’s toxic for everyone. It’s like saying your allergic to anti-freeze or eating rat poop. Duh! No one would eat it because it is toxic, not just because you’re “allergic”. Gluten causes your arteries to become nice and hardened, full of plaque, causes systemic inflammation in the body, tons of yeast overgrowth which causes a myriad of symptoms all on it’s own, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, the damage that is done can absolutely lead to devestating diseases like cancer.
80% of your immune system is in your gut! If you damage your gut with bad foods, your immune system is shot and you’re left vulnerable to anything that comes your way. YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS YOUR BIGGEST TOOL AGAINST CANCER.
